What is a 1.60 index lens?

The index number refers to how efficiently a lens bends light. At 1.60, the same prescription is achieved in a thinner, lighter material than the standard 1.50 — making a visible difference at the lens edge.

Who is it for?

1.60 is ideal for prescriptions between ±2.00 and ±4.00. If you have a mild to moderate prescription, or if your current 1.50 lenses look thick at the edges, 1.60 is the natural step up.

What prescription does it suit?

Best suited to SPH and CYL values between ±2.00 and ±4.00. Below ±2.00 the 1.50 is sufficient. Above ±4.00, the 1.67 will give a better result.
